Because of the covid19 pandemic, the demands on your time have even increased.
The daily challenges are enormous and it is a balancing act that you perform every day.
You balance your caregiving responsibilities with other life events and family issues.
You balance concerns about staying safe during the pandemic with the necessity of getting things done.
You balance financial necessities.
As a family member, it is often a balancing act to try to determine how much help to offer your loved one and how to offer that help.
There is also the question of how to access the services that you need and to secure the “safety net” in case something happens to you – the caregiver.
If you are a caregiver to an elderly parent, loved one or disabled person who needs help, where do you turn?
In Colorado, there is the coloradorespitecoalition.org.
Their website has information about various programs that can be accessed.
It is beyond the scope of this article to detail all the various programs. Eligibility varies.
If you live outside of Colorado, there are programs through the local Area Agency on Aging; government programs and other organizations. Research by using key words, 'caregiver assistance' and 'caregiver support' in your state.
My researcher also suggested a site: dailycaring.com that offers insightful articles and helpful ideas for the family caregiver.
